Obituary

Bradley "Brad" Allen Kline, 63, of Bowman, North Dakota, died peacefully on February 14, 2025, at the Bowman Hospital.

Brad was born on March 26, 1961, in Dickinson, North Dakota. He was the third child of Allen and Ruth (Snow) Kline, and grew up surrounded by siblings, aunts, uncles, and cousins on the family farm north of Scranton.

Brad attended Scranton Public School and graduated in 1979. After graduation, he worked as a carpenter and in the oil field. He had three children, Amber, Luke and Sheena. He then attended Mount Hood Community College in Gresham, OR, where he earned a degree in mortuary science. He then worked alongside his brother, Brian, and father, Allen, at the Kline Funeral Chapel in Belle Fourche, SD, and in Mobridge, SD, where he resided with his wife Shelley (Oelke). He also worked as a mortician in Hot Springs, SD, and Glendive, MT.

Upon Allen's death, Ruth moved to Bowman, and Brad returned to the homeplace where he happily lived on the farm tending to his garden, canning, raising pigs, and working in farming and construction. Brad enjoyed being with family, and his children and grandchildren brought him great joy.

Brad loved fishing, hunting, gardening, and playing cribbage. He made friends easily and could strike up a conversation with just about anyone. He had a sharp sense of humor and a strong independent streak, always doing things his own way. He was generous to a fault, always willing to buy you a drink or hand over the last few dollars in his pocket if you needed them.

Brad is survived by his mother, Ruth Kline (Bismarck, ND); his children, Amber (Jacob) Fortney (Bowden, ND), Luke (Kristina) Kline (Bayfield, CO), and Sheena (Todd) Helphrey (Hesperus, CO); his grandchildren, Jaxon and Dayvah Fortney, Cason Helphrey, and Silas and Callen Kline; his siblings, Nicole (Robert) Klemisch (Mandan, ND), Colleen Stebbins (Bismarck, ND), Brian Kline (Belle Fourche, SD), Lea (Rich) Rud (Gilbert, AZ), and Brent (Melanie) Kline (Scranton, ND); his uncle, Rod Snow and aunts, Kathleen Edkins and Delores Kline; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harry and Lucy Kline and Dwight and Angeline Snow; his father, Allen Kline.
