She was the baby of 11 children and attended the O'Donnell country school house until 8th grade. Betty often stayed with her sister Rose while she attended Baker High School, where she graduated in 1954. She found the love of her life in Rhame, Robert (Bob) Shuck and they married in Baker, MT, on December 9, 1954. They made their home in Rhame and right away they were active stewards of the community. To this union, four children were born: Cynthia (Cindy), Lisa, Douglas (Doug) and Sidney (Sid). Managing a household of four children under 7 years old Betty also worked full and part time at the Dakota Western bank from 1969 to 1995. She worked at the original Rhame branch and in 1975 she also worked at the "new" Bowman branch. Betty also volunteered helping people with disabilities and worked at the locker plant in Rhame. Betty was a kind, selfless, beautiful and fun loving woman who touched everyone she met. Her hugs were renowned and she smothered her grandchildren, who she adored, with love and affection. Her favorite past-time was socializing with family and friends, entertaining, traveling and baking. Betty enjoyed serving her community and supported many through ups and downs. She would often laugh and say, "I wish I had a dollar for every loaf of Lemon bread I made." There was always an open seat at Betty's table and she was always the first one to welcome new residents to Rhame. With a basket of home baked goods and a friendly manner she delivered food to the ill, homebound and the bachelors in the community. Bob and Betty traveled extensively and always came home with stories of new found friends all over the US, Canada and Australia Anyone who came to the house left as a friend and were invited back.
