Betty Freih, 87, of Bowman, ND, passed away on September 7, 2019 at the Southwest Healthcare Long Term Center in Bowman.  Private Family Services will be held.

Betty Ann Pahl was born on March 12, 1932 to Otto and Bertha (Brandenburger) Pahl at the family farm near Forbes, ND. She attended rural school in the Forbes area for eight years. She then attended High School in Ellendale, ND, where she graduated from in 1949. Betty was the church pianist during her high school years. She attended State Normal Industrial College in Ellendale for two summers. She then taught school for three years.

Betty was united in marriage to Roger Freih on September 9, 1951 in Forbes. Roger taught school in many communities until settling in Bowman, ND, in 1967. Roger passed away in 1986. Betty was employed at St. Luke's Hospital in Bowman first as a Nurse's Aide and the last years she was employed there as head of housekeeping. Betty put in 34 years, retiring at the age of 72. On October 6, 2005 Betty married Richard Steinwand. They made their home in Edgeley, ND, for ten years until Richards passing in 2015. Betty then moved back to Bowman living with her daughter before entering the Southwest Healthcare Long Term Center in September of 2018 where she lived until her death.

Betty is survived by her two children; Terry (Janel) Freih and Lee Ann Freih both of Bowman, sister, Elaine (Loren) Paul of Ellendale, brothers-in-law, Glen Weiand of Grafton, and Dale Freih of Bowman, and several nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents Otto and Bertha, husbands Roger and Richard sisters, Jeneane and Karen and a set of twin sisters who died at birth
