Bernice was born on December 12, 1934 to Raymond Mildred Fish in Thunder Hawk, South Dakota.  She grew up in a one bedroom house with 5 siblings.  She loved her family dearly.

Bernice met her husband, Arnold, the handsome pilot, in 1951.  They married October 2, 1951 and moved to a farm 10 miles North of Rhame.  Bernice and Arnold went on to have 4 children, Ronald, Kenneth, Judith and Arlene.

Bernice spent her days caring for her children, helping on the farm with the harvest, which included driving the combine, tractors and trucks.  She cared for many animals on the farm and was especially fond of her chickens.  She raised many from baby chicks.  She always had barn cats around and a precious puppy underfoot.  She played cards with anyone who would join in a game.  She loved her grandkids visiting her home.  She always sent them home with a box of raisins.  She often set up coffee dates with neighbor ladies.  She enjoyed all music, Charlie Pride being a favorite.  She especially liked polka music.  She attended Mound Church and enjoyed the time spent with friends there in her later years.

Bernice was predeceased by her husband, Arnold Meggers, her father, Raymond Fish, her mother, Mildred Fish, her brother, Ray Lynn, her sister, Shirley Fish and son in law, Rick Wegner.
