Arleen M. "Tootie" Stilwell, 60, of Bowman, ND, passed away on April 13, 2017 at the St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck, ND.
Funeral Services for Tootie will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 21, 2017 at the Bowman Lutheran Church. Pastor Mark Nygard will officiate with cremation to take place at a later date. There will be a Family and Friends Service on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at the Krebsbach and Kulseth Funeral Home Chapel beginning at 7:00 p.m.
Tootie was born October 25, 1956 in Elgin, ND, daughter of Wilbert and Nyleen (Zeller) Fischer. Her early years were spent on a farm around the New Leipzig area, later moving to the family farm south of Flasher. She attended all years of school at Flasher and graduated from high school in 1974.
After high school she moved to Bowman to work at her Uncle Dennis Hauck's Exxon Mobil station. Once he sold the station she went to work for a seismography company and was excited to get to work in western Montana, Idaho, Utah, and Wyoming. After her traveling adventures she returned to Bowman where she was proud to say that she had worked at many of the businesses on Main Street such as; Uttech's Bootery, Crystal Bar, The Finder, Has Beens Bar, and Windy's Bar and Pizza. She can also boast that she worked at Paulson's Premium Seed, Frontier Travel Center, and at Cenex in the pizza department. In 2007 she became employed with Jacam Chemicals, where she worked until the time of her death.
In November 1982 she married Quentin Stilwell and to this union a son, Brandyn was born. Brandyn was Tootie's pride and joy. It was those two against the world. One of her proudest moments was getting to see Brandyn graduate with a bachelor's degree in accounting from his dream school, which would not have been possible without all her hard work and motivation.
In her early years she loved to ride horse, but after she had both hips replaced she could no longer ride. She loved being out on the family farm getting to see all the animals, especially at spring time, when there would be baby animals. She loved to cook and bake for all her family friends. It wouldn't be surprising to get baked items out of the blue. She had a soft spot for all animals, but especially kitties. She had a heart of gold and a smile for everyone. She will easily be remembered for her selflessness and had one of the best work ethics around. Her motto was "Don't complain that you have to work. Be happy that you are healthy and you get to work." She will be missed dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents Wilbert and Nyleen Fischer, and her brothers Raymond Fischer and Daryl Fischer.
She is survived by her son Brandyn Stilwell of Bowman, ND. Adopted daughters Billie (Eric) Jorgens of Gascoyne, ND and Tina Wolf of Marmarth, ND. Numerous other adopted children and grandchildren, and special friends that became family. She also leaves behind her three fuzz faces (the kitties), Teddy, Callie, and Minnie. Along with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Krebsbach and Kulseth Funeral Services of Bowman in charge of the arrangements.
