Anna May Stebnitz, 93, of Bowman, ND, formerly of Reeder, ND, passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at the Southwest Healthcare Hospital in Bowman.

Anna May Haugen was born on January 19, 1919, the daughter of John and Lillian (Brinstad) Haugen on the family farm north of Bucyrus, ND. She attended school in Wolf Butte Township and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. May worked for various neighbors during her teen years as well as in Spokane, WA for a year. She then returned home to Bucyrus to help out on the family farm due to her father's failing health. On October 14, 1943, May was united in marriage to William Hagen of rural Reeder, ND. They had a son who passed away in infancy. They farmed north of Reeder until Bill passed away on August 24, 1964. May continued to live on the farm north of Reeder where she rented the land to her brother-in-law, Swede Honeyman for three years. On December 1, 1967, she was united in marriage to Marion Stebnitz and they continued farming until poor health forced Marion to enter St. Benedict's Care Center in Dickinson on February 1, 2004. Ann then moved to an apartment in Bowman in September or 2004 where she resided until her death. Her husband Marion passed away on July 23, 2006.

Anna May was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church of Reeder. She enjoyed and loved her many nieces and nephews and their families, and her many friends very much. Anna May had a "heart of gold" and once she met you, you were her friend. Throughout her life, she enjoyed walking with her dogs. She loved riding horseback and always enjoyed music, dancing, fancywork, crocheting afghans, playing cards, reading and helping out with the farm work, but most of all, she enjoyed her husband and her home.

Anna May was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, infant son and her two sisters; Lois Schasker and Janice Honeyman.

She is survived by her many nieces, nephews, friends and their families.

In her own words, "Don't grieve at my death, celebrate my life, I had such a wonderful one!"

Anna May will be truly missed by all those she came to know.
