Robert John Wiffler

Robert J. Wiffler, 83 of Rhame, ND, died on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at the West River Medical Center in Hettinger.

Mass of Christian Burial for Bob will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at the St. Charles Catholic Church in Bowman. Fr. David Morman will celebrate the Mass with burial to follow in the Tuttle Cemetery, Rhame, ND. Visitation for Bob will be on Monday, June 6, 2011 at the Krebsbach and Kulseth Funeral Home Chapel.

Bob was born on October 1, 1927 in Crow Rock, MT, the 7th of 8 children to parents Edward and Lena (Kohn) Wiffler. He moved to Rhame, ND with his parents and 6 siblings in 1929. His younger brother Ken was born in 1932. Their mother, Lena died in 1932 so Bob was raised lovingly by his father and older sisters. He attended and graduated from Rhame schools where he excelled in athletics. In April, 1946, he married Helen Erickson and to this union was born 3 children, Robert Lee, Deborah Kay and Trace Jay. He continued to reside on the Wiffler farm until the time of his death. Bob served on many local boards; school board, election board, board of the Farmer’s Union. He farmed and ranched all of his life and had a true love of the land and of his cattle. He enjoyed his family and friends, playing cards, gambling at the casinos, and traveling until his health limited these things. He had a great love for family and friends, had a great sense of humor and was a gardener that took great pride in preserving the fruits of his harvest. His sisters taught him well as he could cook anything. AND he truly was “the boss of us all”. He will truly be missed. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, his parents, brother, Eddy and 3 sisters, Marie, Dorothy and Ruth. He is survived by his children, Robert (Nancy) Wiffler of Bowman, Debby (Bill) Scudder of Cataldo, ID, and Trace (Penny) Wiffler of Rhame, brother, Kenneth, sisters, Irene and Edna, grandchildren, Paxton (Amy) Wiffler, Stephanie (Lance) Maynard, Tisha (Nathan) Whatcott, Emilee (Ira Kulin), Ashley Wiffler, Lindsey (Tom) Fossum, and Brock Wiffler, 5 great grandchildren, sister-in-law, Esther Fish, brother-in-law, Eric Erickson, numerous nieces and nephews, and his special friend, Roline Taylor and her family.
